Two arrested in Blackfalds for drug trafficking

Charges have been laid after police arrested two men for drug trafficking In Blackfalds.

It was on June 13 when Blackfalds RCMP, with assistance from Innisfail RCMP and Lacombe Police Service, executed a search warrant at a residence in Blackfalds. Several people were arrested and spoken to, according to a release, but charges were not laid.

About a month later on July 12, Red Deer Mounties helped execute another search warrant at the same home, along with another residence related to the same investigation. Several people were arrested and spoken to and several items seized.

Gerald Allan Tonner of Blackfalds was charged with:

  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Methamphetamine
  • Possession for the Purpose of Trafficking – Fentanyl
  • Possession of Property obtained by Crime under $5,000
  • Possession of ammunition contrary to a prohibition order.
  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine

Darren Christopher Ray of Bentley was charged with:

  • Possession of a Controlled Substance – Methamphetamine
  • Fail to comply with conditions of a recognizance.

Tonner and Ray were each remanded into custody until bail hearings later this month.

According to police, several other people were found inside these residences upon the execution of the search warrants. Some had outstanding arrest warrants and were subsequently arrested and brought before a Justice of the Peace.

Mounties say the matter is still under investigation and further charges will likely be laid in the near future.
