Car goes up in flames in Penhold

No one was injured during a car fire in Penhold on Saturday morning.

It was around 5 a.m. when crews responded to the scene on the west side of the railway tracks.

Firefighters arrived to find a fully engulfed vehicle with no occupants in the vicinity.

“We had the fire under control very quickly and made sure there was no extension to grass or trees,” says Leiutenant Mackenzie Johnston. “We checked the area to make sure there were no injuries and used a thermal imaging camera to make sure the fire was out.”

The car is a total loss and the investigation has been turned over to the RCMP, the fire department says.
