Fresh from helping Alberta win bronze at the 2019 Women’s Invitational Championships in Okotoks, Red Deer’s Kelsey and Hayley Lalor have been invited to try out for Canada’s national women’s baseball team.

Kelsey Lalor had three RBIs in leading Alberta to a 7-6 win over B.C. in Sunday’s bronze medal game in Okotoks. The 21-year-old infielder/outfielder finished the tournament with 11 RBIs and a .550 batting average in six games. She pitched five innings over two games and picked up four strikeouts and a save for Alberta.

Hayley, who is 20, played infield/pitcher for Alberta and had eight RBIs and a .381 batting average in six games.

Twenty players will be chosen from a group of 25 invitees to represent Canada at the Women’s Baseball Pan Am Championships in Mexico from August 18-25. The event will be used as a qualifier for the 2020 WBSC Women’s Baseball World Cup.
