Cashner solid through seven innings to lead Orioles over Blue Jays
TORONTO — Andrew Cashner pitched seven solid innings, Renato Nunez hit a two-run homer and the Baltimore Orioles silenced the Toronto Blue Jays’ bats in an 8-1 victory on Saturday.
Cashner (9-3) won for the fifth time in his last six decisions. The veteran right-hander pitched a comfortable seven innings, giving up only three hits in his economic 88-pitch effort, 61 for strikes.
The lone run for the Blue Jays (33-57) came in the fourth inning when Cavan Biggio singled home fellow rookie Vladimir Guerrero Jr.
Guerrero reached base on a single up the middle to break-up Cashner’s brief flirtations with a no-hitter, and made his way to second on a Cashner wild pitch.
