Jul 4, 2019 | 6:39 AM

RED DEER- Artists from across Canada and beyond will soon arrive at Red Deer College to begin a summer filled with visual arts courses.

From July 8 to August 2, participants will pursue their crafts in a wide variety of mediums.

With almost 40 years of history, Series Summer Arts School provides a wealth of artistic opportunities, with a strong mix of new courses and returning favourites.

This year’s courses include painting, drawing, sculpture, mixed media, calligraphy, bead and jewelry making, metal smithing, ceramics, glassblowing, literary arts and more.

Students can choose to participate in weeklong workshops or in one-day workshops offered on July 20, which will allow people to try different artistic offerings.

As a returning highlight, Series Summer Arts School features Instructor Presentations on Tuesday evenings.

Students will also have the opportunity to display the work they have created at weekly Student Showcases.

These events will be held from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday July 11, 18, 25, and August 1.
