Chinook’s Edge budget deficit pegged at $2.6 million

Jul 2, 2019 | 3:41 PM

The budget for Chinook’s Edge School Division for the 2019-20 school year includes an operating deficit of $2.6 million.

The Board of Trustees approved the $128 million at its meeting on June 26.

With net amortization of $1.9 million and capital purchases of $1.7 million, the division’s operating reserves are expected to decline by $2.4 million.

With the provincial budget yet to be unveiled, Chinook’s Edge is working under the assumption that Alberta Education funding rates will remain the same as 2018-19 but that Alberta Education will provide funding for enrolment increases.
