St. Teresa teachers win Inclusive Education Program Award

RED DEER- The St. Teresa of Avila School inclusion team of, Christina McInenly, Pam Maloughney, Stacey Martz, Misty Berube and Wendy Lynch have has won the Carmela Amelio-McCaw Inclusive Education Program Award.

The five teachers will receive a certificate and $1,000 for the school to support inclusive education.

“I am very proud to be working with such a dedicated team of teachers striving to maximize the potential of all learners through an innovative, collaborative and school-wide model. This was a courageous undertaking as it involved a complete restructuring of our current intervention services in order to address our learning needs and maximize student participation in an inclusive environment. Without a doubt, this team influenced significant change in practices and attitudes that fully support an inclusive learning environment at our school,” said Principal Shelley Gaalaas at St. Teresa of Avila School.

The Carmela Amelio-McCaw Inclusive Education Program Award recognizes a teaching team who provides effective programming for students with diverse learning needs.
