City pushes back annexation timeline
The City of Red Deer will extend its own period to explore annexation by eight months.
Council passed a motion on Monday making that possible.
“Our population has stabilized over the last several years, and there is an opportunity to maintain the momentum of planning for our future return to a growth economy and continue to set the stage for a potential future annexation without immediate budget implications,” said Mayor Tara Veer.
“It’s important that we look ahead and ensure we have appropriate and sufficient land supply for the future, and knowing the growth projections for our community, this provides council and administration opportunity to review options, regional tools and to engage in collaborative conversations with the County.”
