Central Alberta Pride Society presents Pride Week August 10-18, 2019

Jun 27, 2019 | 3:55 PM

Central Alberta Pride Society (CAPS) is proud to present Central Alberta Pride Week August 10 – 18, 2019. Events held throughout the week will celebrate diversity, embrace inclusion, and aim to foster a sense of community in Central Alberta. Members of the LGBTQ+ community, their families, friends and allies are invited to celebrate with us.

“Central Alberta Pride Week is a time to get together as a community to celebrate and honour who we are as persons, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression,” said Serge Gingras, Past Chair. “It is also a remembrance of LGBTQ+ history; an acknowledgement of past and current struggles here at home, in our community, and in other parts of the world.”

Central Alberta Pride Week festivities will kick off Saturday, August 10 with a Drag Show & Dance featuring Eureka O’Hara as headliner as well as several local drag performers. Eureka, the hilarious and unforgettable star of RuPaul’s Drag Race Seasons 10 and 11, will be accompanied by local drag performers Kelli Eletrix, Sparkle Emotion, Ruby Harte, DD Fierce, Visa De’Klein, Duke Carson and Sapphoria. Tickets will be available in advance via Eventbrite.

A variety of other events are planned, including the beloved Fruit Float (Red Deer’s signature floating pride parade), Pride in the Park, a Burlesque Show, a comedy night featuring Bull Skit Comedy, and more. A complete schedule will be available at www.centralalbertapride.ca/events and on Facebook ( www.facebook.com/reddeerpridedays ).
