Jun 26, 2019 | 8:22 PM

The Red Deer Rebels will begin their 2019-2020 Western Hockey League regular season at home Saturday, September 21 against the Edmonton Oil Kings.

The Rebels WHL regular season schedule is 68 games (34 home, 34 away). All Red Deer Rebels home games will have a start time of 7:00 p.m.

The Red Deer Rebels will play five pre-season games starting Tuesday, September 3 with the “Young Guns” game in Edmonton.

The 2019 CHL Import Draft takes place on Thursday.

Each team in the Canadian Hockey League is allowed two import players on its roster.

The Rebels will have one import spot available with defenceman Alexander Alexeyev making the jump to pro hockey. They could have a second if forward Oleg Zaytsev decides not to return to Red Deer for the 2019-20 season. Zaytsev was passed over at last weekend’s NHL Draft and is currently weighing his options.

The Rebels are slated to pick 25th in the first round of tomorrow’s draft. They also own the 85th overall selection in round two.

Two Rebels prospects are among a group of 112 invited to attend Canada’s national under-17 development camp as the road to the 2019 World Under-17 Hockey Challenge begins.

Defenceman Kyle Masters and forward Jayden Grubbe were among 25 WHL players invited to the camp July 19-26 at the Markin MacPhail Centre in Calgary.

Both players were selected by the Rebels in round one of the 2018 WHL Bantam Draft.

Tees goalie and Vancouver Giants prospect Drew Sim was also invited to Canada’s U-17 development camp.
