Weather Advisory: Conditions favourable for funnel clouds
Jun 25, 2019 | 7:08 PM
Environment Canada says funnel clouds are possible into Tuesday evening and as a result has issued a weather advisory for the Red Deer – Ponoka – Innisfail – Stettler region.
These types of funnel clouds, Environment Canada says, are generated by weak rotation under rapidly growing clouds or weak thunderstorms. This weak rotation is normally not a danger near the ground. However, there is a chance that this rotation could intensify and become a weak landspout tornado.
Weather advisories are also in effect for Drumheller – Three Hills and Airdrie – Cochrane – Olds – Sundre.
