Taxes Due

Property taxes due this week

Jun 24, 2019 | 9:12 AM

Property owners are reminded the deadline to pay 2019 property tax bills is June 28, the Friday before the Canada Day long weekend.

Be sure to pay in full and on time to avoid paying late fees. If a property tax account is not paid in full by June 28, a seven per cent penalty will be applied to the unpaid portion. For example, come July 1, if a $2,000 balance remains on a tax account a penalty of $140 (seven per cent) will be applied.

The tax deadline and penalties do not apply to property owners who pay monthly through The City’s Tax Installment Plan (TIP).

Payment options:

Payments can be made at most financial institutions (including online or telephone banking), in person at City Hall (4914 – 48 Avenue) or by mail which must be postmarked by Canada Post by June 28 to avoid late-payment penalties. Credit cards cannot be used to pay property tax.

Property owners remitting payment at the bank must allow sufficient time for the bank’s cut-off and processing times to ensure the payment reaches The City of Red Deer before the due date.
