Red Deer events to celebrate National Indigenous Peoples Day
Festivities begin Thursday for National Indigenous Peoples Day celebrations in Red Deer.
The Waskasoo SeePee Traditional Pow Wow at the Servus Arena begins at 1 p.m. and is open to the public.
“It’s just a fun-filled day of learning and watching,” explains co-ordinator Ashley Patterson.
“People don’t know about pow wows and Indigenous culture, it’s been lost over the years. I think it’s just important for everyone to come out and see how beautiful it is and to learn, build relationships,” she adds. “They’ll leave the day with a new understanding.”
