Lowered Blackfalds speed limit starts this weekend

It’s time to start letting off the gas pedal in Blackfalds as the recently approved speed limit reduction on town roads to 40 km/h takes effect starting Saturday.

“These changes were important to our residents and we want to ensure our growing community remains a safe place for our families to live and enjoy,” stated Mayor Richard Poole.

Town officials note there will be a compliance program that will continue to educate the public and raise awareness for the bylaw ahead of issuing tickets.

Of note, the speed limit for Vista Trail, South Street, Broadway Avenue (north of Womacks Road) and Cottonwood Drive will remain at 50 km/h.

School and Playground zones will remain at 30 km/h and will be in effect from 7:30 a.m. to 1 hour after sunset.
