Flooding shuts down parts of Bower Place after heavy rainfall

Portions of Bower Place Shopping Centre became severely flooded Thursday afternoon following a torrential downpour that hit the region.

Parts of the mall which ended up being taped off were the sections near Toys R Us on the south side, and the east side where Jersey City is located.

Store employees could be seen pushing water out of their stores with mops.

The rest of the mall remains open, and there’s no word on if this will cause any setbacks as far as the new east wing — which is under construction — is concerned.

No word yet on how the water entered the mall, but one store employee told rdnewsNOW she didn’t believe it had come in through the ceiling.
