Applications open for pitch-ready business projects at Edge Investment Forum

Jun 10, 2019 | 11:14 AM

Good news for local entrepreneurs in search of investors for their business ideas.

Applications for pitch-ready projects are now open for the next Edge Investment Forum, happening Oct. 30, 2019 at Westerner Park in Red Deer.

Applications are available online at https://centralalbertaedge.ca/

The Edge Investment Forum is a one-day event, taking place during the Canadian Finals Rodeo at Westerner Park, where Alberta entrepreneurs with great innovations will present to investors.

In February, 2019, The Edge Investment Forum hosted a similar event in conjunction with the Canada Winter Games. This event saw 14 pitchers present their capital investment-ready projects and growing businesses to a room of investors and potential partners. This event was a success, and saw investors from across the region take in investment keynote speakers, projects, and networking opportunities.

Also at the Investment Forum in conjunction with the Canada Winter Games, Canadian Western Bank proudly sponsored a Crowd Voted Best in show prize to the best pitched business of $10,000. This award was presented to Brandi Buss, owner of Beeleive Lifestyle and Apparel.

After winning this prize, Beelieve Lifestyle and Apparel was able to expand out of a home-based business into a busy studio space that includes retail, yoga space, coffee corner, and sewing space for her team.

Buss felt the benefits of pitching for investment on a large scale.

“This was a huge win for my company, this opportunity changed my business and opened the doors to options I didn’t even know existed,” says Buss, in a press release.

Organizing Committee Chair Peter McGee stresses that this availability to pitch allows businesses the opportunity to grow both with capital investment, as well as with strategic business partners.

“Having an established environment of innovation and investment will only benefit the area as we look towards international investment,” says McGee. “A pitcher is anyone who has an established idea and is moving forward with their innovation or business but may need that extra capital to get them rolling and to the next level, be that creating a prototype, entering a new market, or expanding an existing business”.

The Edge Investment Forum will be accepting only select 20 pitch-ready projects to be presented at the Oct, 30 event.

Tickets for the event go on sale through Tickets Alberta on Aug. 1.
