Jun 4, 2019 | 8:00 PM

The retirement of long-time Fire Chief Ed van Delden on May 31, has led to the announcement of a new Director of Emergency Management for the City of Lacombe.

Deputy Fire Chief Eric Graham takes over the role effective immediately, and brings with him a significant amount of experience.

According to City officials, Graham has been training and participating in numerous ICS (Incident Command System) courses and exercises over the past 18 months, adding his fire services experience of handling emergencies makes him an ideal candidate.

As part of the Lacombe Emergency Management Agency which prepares plans and procedures for responding to natural disasters or other emergencies, Graham’s role will help lead responses both during and after emergencies in the City of Lacombe.

City officials note Graham’s experience of training fire staff, is transferable to training the staff in ICS courses and outsourcing the appropriate expertise when required.

Officials point-out Graham will also be responsible for representing the City on the administrative committee for the Lacombe Regional Emergency Management Partnership.
