An arrest warrant has been issued following a violent incident overnight that left an RCMP officer unconscious and bleeding.

It was just before 3:30 a.m. when the male officer responded to a complaint of a trespasser at a business located on 50 Avenue. The officer located a male believed to be the suspect and engaged in conversation with him.

During the interaction, the male is alleged to have assaulted the RCMP officer to the point where he was knocked unconscious, bleeding from the head area, and left on the ground. The male suspect fled the area.

RCMP say civilian security staff observed the incident and provided first aid assistance to the officer. He was transported to a local hospital and has since been released.

An arrest warrant has been issued for 42-year-old Rad Rondeau, who is charged with aggravated assault on a police officer, robbery and obstruction.

Rad Rondeau is described as:

– Caucasian, brown hair / brown eyes

– Approximately 5’10” tall / 190 lbs.

– He is of no fixed address, and may be seen in the downtown area

Prior to this incident, Rondeau was wanted on unrelated arrest warrants resulting from offences committed in May.
