May 29, 2019 | 10:56 AM

A Red Deer man is facing charges after a stolen truck that fled from Lacombe Police on Tuesday was later found in flames.

On May 28, Lacombe Police observed a white Ford F250 in the area of 46 Avenue and 46 Street in Lacombe, adding that a query on the vehicle revealed it to be stolen out of the Red Deer area.

Upon observing the officers, police say the truck fled the location at a high rate of speed, with officers entering into a criminal flight investigation but did not pursue due to public safety concerns.

Police say the truck was later found on fire in the area of range road 410 in Lacombe County to which the Lacombe Fire Department attended.

After further investigation, police were able to identify the driver of the stolen truck.

Christopher Nwaribe, 30, of Red Deer has been charged with arson, possession of property over $5000, flight from police and dangerous driving.

Nwaribe was released on his own Recognizance and is scheduled to attend Red Deer Provincial Court on June 21.
