Red Deer County crews douse grass fire on Hwy 2A

Red Deer County fire crews put out a small grass fire along Hwy 2A Saturday afternoon.

Deputy Chief Ivan Dijkstra says they responded around 3:30 to the blaze just south of the CN rail bridge and on the east side of the secondary highway between Red Deer and Blackfalds.

No one was hurt and there were no damages to structures.

The cause of the fire remains unknown, but Dijkstra says it isn’t suspicious, and they aren’t ruling out that it could have been sparked by a passing train.
