Three people died as a result of motor vehicle collisions in Alberta on May Long Weekend, according to Alberta RCMP.

Mounties also say there were 27 collision-related injuries reported across the province from May 17-20.

Those numbers don’t include collisions involving off-road vehicles.

Alberta RCMP Traffic Services issued 2,075 speeding tickets and 79 tickets for seatbelt violations last weekend.

“The RCMP reminds all road users, drivers, riders, passengers and pedestrians alike, that traffic safety is a shared responsibility,” Constable Mike Hibbs says in a release.

Throughout Canada Road Safety week (May 14-20), Alberta RCMP focused enforcement operations on occupant restraints, speeding, distracted and impaired driving.
