A Red Deer man charged in an armed standoff with police last month will go to trial next year.

Christopher Elijah Sinclair, 36, is scheduled to have a three-day trial by judge alone starting Jan. 29, 2020.

Sinclair faces 24 counts in the Apr. 4 incident where RCMP attended a residence on Galbraith Street in Glendale and arrested a man who was armed and barricaded inside.

Sinclair’s charges include three counts of assault with a weapon, three counts of pointing a firearm, five counts of unauthorized possession of a firearm, two counts of possession of weapon for a dangerous purpose, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, seven counts of failure to comply with conditions of recognizance and three counts of using a firearm in commission of an offense.

In addition, Alberta Justice confirms Sinclair currently has trials scheduled for two other separate matters regarding incidents occurring on Sept. 17, 2018 and Jan. 20, 2019.

Those trials are scheduled for July and November respectively of this year.
