FIRE BAN

Fire ban issued in northern Alberta due to wildfire threat

May 17, 2019 | 7:03 AM

EDMONTON- Campfires, unauthorized burning and off-highway vehicles are banned on public lands throughout most of northern Alberta because of wildfire concerns.

The fire and OHV ban extends from Lac La Biche up to north of Fort McMurray, west to north of Slave Lake, west to Peace River, and then north to the Northwest Territories border.

Devin Dreeshen, Minister of Agriculture and Forestry, says windy conditions, along with continued warm and dry weather, have increased the risk of wildfire throughout the region.
