Trial ordered in Canada Day sexual assault of young teen

A man accused of sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl on the night of Canada Day 2018 has been ordered to stand trial.

Darrien Francis Nepoose, 18, is charged with aggravated sexual assault and will see his case return to court June 3 to set a date for trial.

It was on July 2, 2018 when Red Deer Mounties began their search for the suspect after the victim suffered serious but non-life threatening injuries in the incident the night before.

Police say the victim was known to the suspect who was later arrested at a north Red Deer residence on July 5.
