Wetaskiwin RCMP arrest suspect in Rose Country Inn fire

WETASKIWIN- After a joint investigation by the Wetaskiwin RCMP General Investigation Section and Wetaskiwin City Fire Services, RCMP have made an arrest in connection with an arson fire at the historical Rose Country Inn.

The blaze occurred in the early morning hours of March 19.

Benjamin Kopp, 37, was arrested on Wednesday at a residence in Wetaskiwin and charged with Arson–Damage to property (X2), and Arson–Disregard for Human Life.

Kopp will appear in Wetaskiwin Provincial Court on May 9.
