County seeking Public Ag Literacy Advisory Committee members

Apr 30, 2019 | 12:21 PM

Red Deer County Agricultural Services is seeking members of the public to join an advisory body for a new Public Agriculture Literacy (PAL) program. This program will focus on connecting the urban public in the City of Red Deer with local farmers and ranchers.

The eight-member committee will consist of 5 Red Deer City residents and 3 Red Deer County farmers and ranchers. The committee will meet a minimum of 10-12 meetings per year, and meetings will be held during the day. Appointments for this committee are for a two-year term (End date is March 21, 2021).

According to PAL coordinator Aimee Delaney, “This is an important new focus aimed at changing urban perceptions of our local agricultural industry. We hope to take steps in building relationships between farmers, ranchers, and their urban neighbors.”
