AER RESIGNATION

AER board member resigns

Apr 30, 2019 | 6:43 AM

EDMONTON- Alberta Energy Regulator board member Ed Whittingham has resigned just days before incoming Premier Jason Kenney had threatened to fire him.

Whittingham states in his resignation letter that he can’t continue on the board of directors after being subjected to what he described as an unprecedented smear campaign for an appointment held by a private citizen.

Kenney has singled out the former director of the Pembina Institute as a foe of oil development and said one of his first actions after he and his new United Conservative cabinet are sworn in today would be to fire him.
