Edmonton parts ways with company working on LRT

EDMONTON- Mayor Don Iveson says it’s the end of the line for a company hired to install a signal system on a new section of Edmonton’s light-rail transit network.

Iveson says Thales Canada Incorporated consistently let the city down in delivering on its contractual obligations.

The city issued Thales a notice of default last year and the company committed to fix problems with the Metro line.

The city says tests since then show the signalling system couldn’t keep trains on schedule.
