The City of Red Deer hosted its annual Employee Recognition Awards banquet on Friday night.

Employees were honoured for their long-term service, as well as their commitment to innovation, environmental sustainability, and leadership.

The Bob Stollings Memorial Award was the biggest highlight of the evening.

It was presented to Curtis Martinek, a projects superintendent with the Recreations, Parks and Culture department.

“The Bob Stollings Memorial Award is our most prestigious award, not only because it recognizes the recipient’s professional accomplishments, but because the winner is nominated by their peers – a true accomplishment to earn the trust and respect of those around them,” said Kristy Svoboda, Director of Human Resources.

“Curtis has proven over the years that he is an invaluable asset to our organization, he truly embodies our corporate values in every aspect of his role, making him the perfect recipient for this year’s honour.”

Established by city council in 1985, the award is named after Robert (Bob) E. Stollings, who worked with The City from 1960-1984.
