The fourth annual Central Alberta Family Expo kicks off this weekend at the Parkland Pavilion at Westerner Park.

The event will feature special character guests PJ Masks, Owelette, Catboy and Gekko. There will also be characters from the 501 Badlands Garrison to pose with guests, as well as a bouncy house, face painting and petting zoo for attendees to enjoy.

250 free loot bags will be given out to the first 250 families to attend each day of the event, which features several new attractions. They are also introducing a few new activities this year for families to enjoy.

“We have a bigger and better family expo race track; it will be a fun space. We have new backdrops for the Star Wars characters, there is a Jedi training event that will be lots and lots of fun. We are also going to be holding a Beyblade event so kids can bring their Beyblades and participate in that,” explains event coordinator Pat Moore.

Each year, the Central Alberta Family Expo gives back to local charitable organizations. This year’s donations will be split evenly between The Mustard Seed, Big Brothers and Big Sisters, and the Red Deer Food Bank.

People will also have the chance to win different prizes, including a 32 inch Samsung TV as a grand prize.

The expo aims to bring together families and create a fun environment to be enjoyed by everyone.

“This will be a fun family event for everyone and it’s a time for people to come as families and have fun together. That’s our goal,” added Moore.

The event gets underway Saturday March 30 at 10:00 a.m. until 5:00 p.m., then again on Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Children 14 and under get in for free. For adults, tickets are $10 and will be sold at the door.
