Drayton Valley weekly RCMP report: Feb. 28 – Mar. 7

February 28

1:08 PM – Drayton Valley – 55 Ave – Report of a suspicious female appearing to be “tripping out” walking down the laneway, stopping every few minutes to sit down and swear. Member attended and located the female who reported being angry at god.

5:15 PM – Drayton Valley – Male known to have warrants seen at a local gas station. Member attended and conducted traffic stop nearby, male arrested without incident. The male is facing an additional charge for possessing methamphetamine.

5:42 PM – Drayton Valley – 50 St – Wellbeing check requested on a male possibly suicidal. The male was located at his residence and deemed to be not a risk to himself or others.

8:03 PM – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Report of an unwanted male at a retirement home. Member attended and found the male had left.

11:55 PM – Drayton Valley – 47 St – Report of a suspicious truck frequenting apartment parking lot for hours at a time, several nights ongoing. Member attended, unable to locate such a suspicious truck.

March 1

6:58 AM – Drayton Valley – 50 Ave – Wellbeing check requested, female unable to reach her mother who may be in distress. Members unable to locate female immediately, but was located later and confirmed okay.

7:14 AM – Tomahawk area – Report of a black SUV on a rural property since before daylight, may be a worker. Members unable to attend right away, vehicle gone when police arrived.

7:37 AM – Drayton Valley – Police received information of a male with outstanding warrants at a local residence. Police attended and located 20-year-old Justice Crabbe.He is facing nine charges in Drayton Valley from incidents on February 17 and 18, and three charges relating to incidents in Entwistle that occurred February 18.

9:11 am – Drayton Valley – Attempted theft of a vehicle from a business on 54 Street.  Vehicle broken in to and damage caused to the ignition and steering column.

3:35 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of suspicious activity on Madsen Ave.  Members patrolled the area, however nobody was located.

3:46 pm – Drayton Valley – Town garbage bin stolen from a residence on 49 Street.

8:59 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of an unwanted person at a retirement home.  Police attended and determined that the person had a family member there and liaised with the staff to allow the person to stay for a visit.

11:13 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of a suspicious person/vehicle on 47 Street.  Police located a male who was sitting in his vehicle having a cigarette as he was not allowed to smoke inside.

March 2

2:32 am – Drayton Valley – Police observed a male in a stolen vehicle.  The vehicle was followed to Breton’s Detachment area where a traffic stop was attempted and the vehicle fled.  The vehicle was ultimately stopped in Drayton Valley where two occupants fled the vehicle on foot.  The passenger, a female youth who cannot be identified under the Youth Criminal Justice Act was arrested and later released on a promise to appear for court in Drayton Valley.  The male driver, identified as 20-year-old Durant Shale, was later located and arrested and faces a total of 20 charges.

5:06 pm – Brazeau County – Damage to garage on property on Township 493, occurred overnight, possibly an attempted break and enter.  Nothing stolen, property secured by owner.

5:36 pm – Drayton Valley – Shoplifting complaint from Canadian Tire.  An unknown male and female stole items from the store, left in possibly a black Acura, no plate obtained.

6:51 pm – Brazeau County – Report of vehicle possibly involved in Canadian Tire theft as well as other thefts in the area.  Vehicle located and when a traffic stop was attempted the vehicle fled and in a manner that was dangerous to the public.  Police did not pursue the vehicle. 

9:00 pm – Drayton Valley – Report that 2 unknown males were shooting a pellet gun at deer in the area of 46 Avenue.  The complainant had yelled at them to stop and they left towards 50 Street.  Police made patrols however the males were not located.

March 3

12:52 am – Drayton Valley – Police located a GMC Jimmy near the swimming pool that was confirmed stolen out of Sherwood Park.  The vehicle was unoccupied and was held for a forensic examination.

4:40 am – Drayton Valley – Report that at a business on 57 Avenue, unknown suspect(s) stole an employee vehicle and drove it through the back door of the business, entered the business and stole a white Dodge Ram 3500 Alberta license plate BHZ6154.  Lots of damage was caused to the building as well as other vehicles on site.  Matter is still under investigation.

4:02 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of an assault at the Lakeview Inn.  Police attended, the parties had already separated and the complainant was unwilling to cooperate with police.

6:50 pm – Brazeau County – Possible gunshot heard in the area of Range Road 91 and Township Road 484, possibly came from near the river.  Patrols made of the area, nothing found.

8:19 pm – Drayton Valley – Complaint received of a possibly impaired driver.  Police located the vehicle, conducted a traffic stop and as part of the new mandatory alcohol screening legislation determined that the driver had no alcohol in their system.

March 4

1:28 am – Brazeau County – Complainant reported an unknown intoxicated male was dropped off by a taxi at their residence.  Police attended and determined the male was dropped off at the wrong house, the male possibly gave the taxi the wrong information.  Police provided the male a ride home.

3:36 am – Brazeau County – Attempted stolen vehicle from a residence in Rocky Rapids.  Two unknown suspects in a black early 2000s Dodge Ram duly attempted to steal the complainants F350.  The owner of the vehicle was able to scare off the suspects who fled towards Highway 621. 

4:06 am – Brazeau County – Suspicious vehicle reported on Highway 620.  Police attended and located a Jeep Patriot with two occupants who advised they were just out for a drive.  No evidence found to believe they were involved in anything criminal in the area.

11:23 am – Drayton Valley – Two vehicle collision on 50 Ave. and 45 St. No injuries.

5:08 pm – Drayton Valley – Report of a dispute at a residence.  Members attended and separated both parties.  The complainant declined to provide a statement in regards to charges.

6:36 pm – Drayton Valley – Hit and run between two vehicles in a business parking lot.  An independent witness was able to obtain the plate of the suspect vehicle.  Police were able to locate the driver in order to report the collision and will also be facing provincial charges in relation to the incident.

March 5

6:52 am – Brazeau County – Truck stolen overnight from a company yard on Range Road 75.  The owner was alerted to the theft as the vehicle had already been recovered in Stony Plain.

8:39 am – Drayton Valley – 52 St – Information received regarding location of stolen truck. Member attended and recovered truck stolen from Evansburg. Still under investigation.

9:33 am – Drayton Valley – 44 Street – Witness observed two females enter a shed on private property. Member attended and confirmed these details. Property owner contacted who was okay with the females using the shed.

10:49 am – Drayton Valley – 54 Street – Complainant reported their business compound entered and a fleet tracking device stolen from a company truck. Truck damaged in the process.

12:38 pm – Drayton Valley – 43 Street – Complainant witnessed a suspicious female pulling a wagon, apparently taking items from a neighbours property. Female not located but attending member believes she was removing her own items she had permission to store there.

1:34 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Driver reported sliding into another vehicle while trying to park. Both parties attended the detachment.

2:38 pm – Drayton Valley – 52 Street – Complainant reported that while out walking his dog someone entered his apartment and stole several items, including a phone. Under investigation.

10:10 pm – Drayton Valley – Complainant reported his car stolen, was aggressive with dispatcher. Subsequent call received of a male uttering threats to an employee of a local tow company. It is believed the males car had been towed by a different tow company as it was blocking snow removal efforts.

March 6

9:56 am – Drayton Valley – 50 St South – Complaints of a suspicious intoxicated male. Members located the male who was arrested due to intoxication, but also on a warrant out of Rocky Mountain House. Male released after a telephone bail hearing to appear in court in Rocky Mountain House.

8:16 pm – Drayton Valley – Industrial Road – Male requesting a police escort to retrieve belongings as he has conditions not to attend the location. Members were unable to make contact with the male to make arrangements

March 7

1:09 am – Drayton Valley – 50 Street – Complainant reporting persons possibly tampering with a semi left running in a hotel parking lot. Member attended, unable to locate the suspicious persons. Complainant advised they had left after the call was made to police.

5:54 am – Brazeau County – 50 Street – Report that overnight unknown persons broke into a business yard and stole a one-ton flat deck truck.

7:41 am – Brazeau County – 62 Street – Break and Enter to a business that occurred overnight. Still under investigation.
