Central Alberta Soroptimists celebrate International Women’s Day

Mar 1, 2019 | 6:31 AM

Soroptimist International of Central Alberta is inviting the public to attend their annual International Women’s Day Awards Celebration Dinner.

This year’s event is taking place Thursday, March 7 at 6:30 p.m. at the Black Knight Inn featuring guest speaker Tad Milmine.

Bullying and cyber-bullying are considered to be major health issues and the side-effects are immediate and long-lasting. In the most tragic cases, bullying has had fatal consequences with victims attempting or dying by suicide.

Milmine addresses these issues through a powerful speech highlighting his personal story. He was recently awarded the Order of Merit of the Police Forces by the Governor General of Canada. His website, Bulllying Ends Here has information about his charity and his presentation. He travels all over Canada and the world speaking to kids and parents.

Bullying, cyber-bullying, and internet awareness and safety are issues Soroptimist are passionate about educating girls about, and these topics have been covered in many of our Mother Daughter conferences.

We are excited to invite people to attend our awards dinner, to hear our speaker, and to meet the amazing women we are honoring and granting our awards to.
