Alberta veterinarians vote to ban ‘inhumane’ procedures
MEDICINE HAT- Alberta veterinarians have voted to ban unnecessary medical procedures across the province.
The decision was announced Sunday, when members of the Alberta Veterinary Medical Association (ABVMA) voted in favor of a resolution they feel will have a significant impact on animals in Alberta.
The ban on all unnecessary surgeries includes:
Body piercing
Cosmetic dentistry
Devocalization
Ear cropping
Front dewclaw removal
Partial digital amputation
Tail Blocking
Tail Docking
Tail Nicking
Tattooing that is not used for registration or identification
Tendonectomy
