Feb 25, 2019 | 3:43 PM

Red Deer College left a good mark on the ice as their mixed curling team took home bronze at the ACAC Championships over the weekend.

The mixed team (Thomas Crawford, Erica Watts, Jayden Mitchell, Jaycee Bourke and Courtney Chesterman) started the tournament with a tough 7-2 loss to Augustana, followed by a hard fought loss to NAIT 6-4.

Day two started better for RDC by beating Lakeland College 6-1, but still finished last in the group, and were forced to await the loser from the semi-final for their bronze medal game.

On championship Sunday, RDC came out firing and crushed Augustana 10-3, avenging their early tournament loss and snatching bronze form the 2nd ranked Vikings.

NAIT took gold in mixed curling while Lakeland win silver.

Despite the success for the mixed team, the RDC men’s and women’s teams struggled at provincials, going winless through the entire tournament.

Concordia University of Edmonton took gold in the men’s division, while MacEwan University took gold in the women’s division.
