House fire in Anders serves up valuable safety lessons

Feb 25, 2019 | 2:27 PM

Red Deer Emergency Services are offering up a number of important reminders following a house fire over the weekend.

Fire Safety Codes Officer Brad Legere says crews responded to a residence on Anders Close during the noon hour Saturday.

“We want to express the importance of having working smoke alarms in your home, secondly, to never leave your cooking unattended, and also, to never re-enter your home after evacuating,” Legere says.

One occupant of the home went back into the home during the fire to rescue a cat, which unfortunately later died due to smoke inhalation.
