Quebec continues to tally up medals with gold in table tennis

Team Quebec has a lot to celebrate so far at the Canada Winter Games.

They added to their medal total in Wednesday’s  men’s gold medal match in men’s table tennis at Westerner Park.

The finals saw a close, best of three match between Edward Lee from Quebec and Steve Wang from B.C.

Despite Wang’s best efforts, Lee managed to pull off a 3-0 victory to secure the gold medal.

Lee expressed raw emotion during the match and was just as excited when it had ended.

“I’ve never felt like that you know. It’s really emotional and everything. I’m so happy to win it,” he said.

“It takes a lot of work. You need to train every day to have a chance to win this tournament.”

Lee is grateful for his teammates and the opportunity to be playing at the games.

“I think the atmosphere was really good and everything. My teammates were cheering for me I was feeling unbelievable so it pumped me up and when I played if I’m losing a point their ready to cheer for me and everything. I would like to thank my teammates and my mixed double partner for helping me to achieve these two gold medals and my single gold medal.”

This is Lee’s third gold medal at this year’s Games. He also won gold in mixed doubles and the team male events.

David Hong Lin secured bronze for B.C.
