Sales improving for Kinsmen Dream Home Lottery

Feb 8, 2019 | 9:16 AM

The Red Deer Kinsmen say their decision to extend ticket sales for their Dream Home Lottery has been beneficial.

They started out with 8,600 tickets available for the lottery and when they still had nearly 3,600 tickets left, they chose to extend the sale beyond their usual Dec. 31 deadline.

“It’s definitely benefited us, because if we would have done the cut off for December 31 we would have lost money,” says Chris Klassen, Kinsmen Dream Home Lottery co-chair.

“We have seen a decent amount of ticket sales of the past five weeks, and I’m happy to say the Dream Home is making money. But we do still have a lot of tickets to sell before February 24.”

Klassen says the economy and competition have played a role ticket sales suffering, and it’s led them to market to more than just the Red Deer area.

“We’ve had to increase our advertising opportunities, and spread outside central Alberta and find those people who are eager to win a beautiful home…or any of our prizes,” he noted. “It’s tight right now, there’s a lot of uncertainty so we just want to make sure everybody has the opportunity to sell.”

Klassen says the entire community benefits from money raised through the lottery.

“For all the money that’s earned, all that money goes right back here in central Alberta, whether it’s one of the numerous sporting teams, the food bank, The Mustard Seed, the kids musical theater groups, the prices prevention. It’s endless the amount of groups that we continue to give money too, and most of that money is raised from this project.”

Some of the prizes up for grabs this year include:

A $750,000 ‘Dream Home’ from True-Line Homes
Ford Mustang from Cam Clark Ford
Trip for 4 to Mexico
Groceries for a year
Home theater package
Rebels season tickets and more

Ticket for the Dream Home Lottery and 50/50 draw are available until February 24. More details are available at reddeerkinsmen.com.
