New utility rates take effect March 1
RED DEER- Rates will be going up starting March 1 after Red Deer city council passed amendments to the Utility Bylaw and the Electric Utility Bylaw.
In 2019, the average household will see an increase of approximately $2.20 per month, or about 2.14%, on their utility bill and approximately $0.90 per month on their electrical bill.
Residents will see the rates reflected on their April utility bills.
Utility rates for water and wastewater are comprised a fixed charge and a variable use charge, which offer residents the ability to control their bills by limiting water use.
