Rebels pounce on the Cougars in rebound win
On paper, the Red Deer Rebels were the clear favourites ahead of their tilt with the Prince George Cougars on Saturday night at the Centrium.
Coming in, the Rebels were winners of five of their last eight and had won 15 of 24 home games. The Cougars, who sit last in the Western Conference, had lost five in a row.
The end result was pretty much how one would’ve scripted it just by looking at the standings, despite the fact any team truly can win on any given night in the WHL.
It was an inauspicious start to the game for the Prince George Cougars who found themselves facing a 5-on-3 PK before two minutes had elapsed. First Cole Moberg and then Austin Crossley took undisciplined holding and cross-checking minors to set the tone.
