Suspicious vehicle fire in Penhold

RCMP are investigating after a truck went up in flames over night in Penhold. 

Crews were dispatched just after 3 a.m. to a vehicle on fire near the intersection of Minto St. and Robinson Ave. Firefighters arrived to find an older pickup truck fully involved.

Fire lieutenant Bailey McKay said, “The truck was parked next to a holiday trailer, so the quick actions of the first arriving unit’s crew kept the exposure damage to a minimum.”

Fire Chief Jim Pendergast said, “The origin and cause is suspicious and the RCMP are investigating. The cold weather did cause problems with some of our equipment.”
