Oct 24, 2018 | 4:58 PM

Alberta Occupational Health and Safety is investigating after a worker died at the Dow Canada Prentiss plant Tuesday night.

A statement from Dow Canada say the fatality occurred at around midnight.

“Dow notified the appropriate authorities and the name of the worker is not being released at this time,” says spokesperson Jessica MacDonald.

“Our thoughts are with our colleague’s family, loved ones and co-workers during this difficult time. We are deeply saddened by the tragic loss of a colleague, and we are working closely with all parties involved to gather more information and learn from this tragic incident.”

According to OHS, a worker was using a barrel dumper and was found dead after he was crushed in the dumper’s hydraulics.

The Dow Prentiss plant is located on Prentiss Road (Range Road 260) in Lacombe County, approximately 30 kilometres northeast of Red Deer.
