Golf aces Leidenius, Broderson named RDC Athletes of the Week

On the heels of medal winning peformances over the weekend, a pair of star golfers are this week’s RDC Athletes of the Week.

Ponoka native Shaye Leidenius had a strong weekend at the Alberta Colleges Athletic Conference (ACAC) Golf Championships at Alberta Springs. The Kinesiology student earned three medals over the two-day competition (mixed team – gold, individual – bronze, women’s team – silver).

With her strong effort, the third-year student-athlete from Ponoka helped her Queens win team silver (332), qualifying them for the 2018 PING Canadian Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA) Golf National Championships, October 16 – 19, at Desert Blume Golf Club in Medicine Hat.

Lacombe’s Chase Broderson played consistent golf at the ACAC Golf Championships, earning three medals over the weekend in his first championships at the collegiate level (mixed – gold, individual – silver, men’s team – bronze).
