The First Shift hockey program returns to Red Deer

A program coming to Red Deer aims to let kids experience the game of hockey in a small, yet fun dose.

The First Shift Program is a six-week long program where kids ages 6-10 are introduced to hockey. The Program is based around basic skill development while having fun in a unique environment.

Registration for the Program is $199, and it includes head to toe equipment for each kid to keep, an equipment fitting demonstration, equipment fitting and distribution, as well as a welcome event. Sponsorship from both Canadian Tire and Bauer are what make the low cost possible

“We obviously know that there are various cost barriers with playing hockey, so the first shift program is a program to get them into the game, as that first step as a low cost initiative,” says Bryden Burrell with Hockey Alberta.
