Westerner hosting Rising Stars Rodeo qualifier

Westerner Park and the Red Deer & District Chamber of Commerce are presenting the Rising Stars Junior Canadian Finals Rodeo.

$24,000 in scholarship money will be up for grabs, along with the opportunity to compete for the title of Junior Canadian Finals Champion, on Saturday, November 3 at the ENMAX Centrium during Canadian Finals Rodeo week.

The Rising Stars Rodeo aims to provide a place for Canadian youth to showcase their rodeo talents in the same arena as the legend’s that they look up to.

Westerner Park says it’s important to play a part in youth competitor development in and out of the arena.

“Our Youth Rodeo Ambassador program will go hand in hand with the Junior Canadian Finals Rodeo and will offer our competitors an opportunity to learn from industry experts about health, wellness, and leadership,” officials say in a release.

A qualifier event for the Rising Stars Rodeo is taking place tomorrow (Saturday) afternoon at the Stockmens Pavilion starting at 1 p.m. The winner from each event will be guaranteed a spot to compete in November. $1,000 in prize money will be awarded per event along with a buckle.
