Lacombe County working on cannabis legislation

Lacombe County is working on legislation governing the production and consumption of cannabis.

A resolution was put forth at the Aug. 9 council meeting to amend the County’s Land Use Bylaw to designate hamlets and business industrial districts as approved zones for the operation of cannabis production facilities.

Alos, a resolution was also presented to restrict the smoking and vaping of cannabis within Lacombe County, similar to the way alcohol is restricted, through an amendment to the Community Standards Bylaw.

The amended bylaws will be considered by council at a future meeting.
