RCMP investigate after plane wreckage and body found

The wreckage of a plane has been found in rural Lac Ste. Anne County.

Mayerthorpe RCMP said on Thursday afternoon around 4:30 p.m. a call came in of search and resuce crews discovering the wreckage of a plane in the county. The aircraft found had extensive damage and a body was discovered at the scene.

Transport Canada has now joined the investigation and the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner is now involved.

Mounties said that the investigation is in the early stages and the identity of the aircraft nor the identity of the deceased has been confirmed.
