CALGARY – Upwards of two dozen people had to run for safety when a wind-whipped two-alarm fire on a blistering hot day severely damaged three Calgary homes.
The flames were spreading from one home to a neighbouring house when firefighters arrived at the scene in the city’s northeast around 5 p.m. Monday.
There were no injuries among the 21 people who had to flee.
The evacuees were placed on transit buses to keep out of the heat.
