Central Alberta Pride Society presents Pride Week, August 12-18
Central Alberta Pride Society (CAPS) is proud do present Central Alberta Pride Week August 12 – 18, 2018. Events are held throughout the week to celebrate diversity and foster a sense of pride in Central Alberta. Members of the LGBTQ+ community, their families, friends and allies are invited to celebrate with us.
“Central Alberta Pride Week is a time to get together as a community to celebrate and honour who we are as persons, regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity or expression,” said Serge Gingras, Board Chair. “It is also a remembrance of LGBTQ+ history; an acknowledgement of past and current struggles here at home, in our community, and in other parts of the world.”
Central Alberta Pride Week festivities will kick Sunday August 12th with the Fruit Float (Red Deer’s signature floating Pride Parade) along the Red Deer River ending at Bower Ponds for Pride in the Park. The day commences with a Worship at the park followed by a Mayor’s Proclamation. The day is filled with live entertainment, local vendors, beer garden and food trucks.
We have a variety of local events scheduled throughout the city for the remainder of the week, including our most popular event to date, the fabulous and highly anticipated Drag Show & Dance on Saturday, August 18 at the Sheraton Red Deer Hotel. We are excited to offer a very special celebrity headliner this year.
