Trials booked for man charged with ramming police vehicle, gas and dash incidents

A Red Deer man charged with ramming into a police cruiser with a stolen truck earlier this month will go to trial later this year.
Cody Feil, 30, faces 24 charges in relation to the incident on the afternoon of June 5 including possession of stolen property under $5,000, resist/obstruct peace officer, assault with a weapon, possessing identity documents and several driving and firearms-related counts.
It was at about 1:30 p.m. when City Mounties responded to a report of a stolen truck parked in Riverside Meadows. RCMP boxed in the truck to prevent it fleeing police, and the male suspect standing at the truck then entered it and used it to ram the driver’s door of the police cruiser while an officer was behind the wheel. The suspect then exited the truck through the open passenger window and attempted to flee on foot before being arrested.
During the arrest, RCMP seized two stolen cheques, brass knuckles, a knife, and several pellet and BB guns that the suspect was prohibited by court order from possessing. Police also seized bolt cutters and other tools known to be used in vehicle break-ins, and several stolen identity documents.
