Tuesday marks 5 year anniversary of June 2013 Alberta floods
CALGARY- The start of the 2013 floods began was five years today and would eventually effect a large area of southern Alberta, including Calgary.
Another hard hit community was High River.
The flood forced the evacuation of nearly 100,000 people, left communities in disarray and killed at least five people.
More than 250 mm of rain fell over a 36 hour period in the foothills west and southwest of Calgary and began rapidly flowing east through the province’s river valleys bringing destruction across southern Alberta.
